Letter from the St. Edward’s University President, Montserrat Fuentes, PhD
Greetings:
Welcome to the first app of the Holy Cross Institute at St. Edward’s University! I’m excited for the opportunity Holy Cross leaders, educators, students, and the entire family of Holy Cross around the world have to reflect and pray on the writings of the founder of the Congregation of Holy Cross, Blessed Basil Moreau. I invite you to join me in my daily prayer to bring more truth and equity to our world and combat injustices, so we all might be zealous for the kingdom of God, using this app inspired by Fr. Moreau’s prayers, works and example. Fr. Moreau said, “The spirit of prayer is a sort of gravitation toward God by frequent longings, by the loving practice of the presence of God, and by the regular renewal of right intentions in all one’s behavior” (Moreau, Rules). Each day, I invite you to enjoy a reflection drawn from the book “Gravitating Toward God” written by Brother Joel Giallanza, C.S.C. and published by the Holy Cross Institute at St. Edward’s University. It would not have been possible to share Fr. Moreau’s works through this app, what we believe to be the first Holy Cross prayer app of its sort in the world, without creators Kim Garza, Brother Joel Giallanza, C.S.C., and Dr. James Puglisi. A special mention to AJ Valverde, Communications Manager for the Holy Cross Institute, who coordinated the completion of the app. God bless each of you and thank you for your interest in this creation from the Holy Cross Institute at St. Edward’s University. Let us let the Holy Spirit live in our hearts through our daily prayers inspired by Blessed Basil Moreau.
Sincerely,
Montserrat Fuentes, PhD
